This Privacy Policy applies to you and DeenHub, regardless of your country of residence or location. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information. This policy is written in plain language, minimizing legal and technical jargon, to help you understand our practices and your choices regarding your data.

The Data Controller

The person responsible for your information under this Privacy Policy (the “data controller”) is:
DeenHub
249 West Roland Road, Brookhaven,
PA, 19015, USA
E-Mail: support@deenhub.app
Web: www.deenhub.app

This policy complies with applicable U.S. laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and, where applicable, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Union. You are responsible for ensuring your use of the App complies with local laws, including those related to religious content, which may vary by region.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of data to provide and improve the DeenHub App experience:

  • Personal Information: Data you provide directly, such as your name, email address, and any other information you choose to share when creating an account or interacting with the App.

  • Location Data: With your explicit consent, we collect precise or approximate location data from your device to provide features such as identifying nearby mosques and determining the Qibla direction. You can enable or disable location access at any time through your device settings.

  • User-Generated Content: Data you submit, such as mosque adhan and iqamah times verified by users, which may be displayed to other users to enhance the App’s functionality.

  • Free Quran Distribution Data: For users in the USA who are non-Muslims or newly reverted Muslims, we collect your name, shipping address, and contact details (with your explicit consent) to process requests for free Quran distribution. We may also collect information to verify eligibility (e.g., confirmation of non-Muslim or newly reverted Muslim status).

  • Usage Data: Information about how you use the App, such as pages visited, time spent, Islamic habits tracked (e.g., prayer or Quran memorization progress), interactions with the AI chatbot, and Quran distribution requests.

  • Device Information: Technical data, such as your device type, operating system, IP address, and browser type, to ensure the App functions correctly.

  • Cookies and Analytics: We use cookies and tools like Google Analytics to collect anonymous data about App usage to improve functionality and prioritize features. These do not identify you personally.

Purposes of Data Processing

We process your data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and personalize the App’s features, such as habit tracking, prayer reminders, nearby mosque identification (including user-verified adhan and iqamah times), Qibla direction, Quran memorization (tracking verses marked as “memorized,” “reviewing,” or “learning”), hadith, dua, AI chatbot responses, and processing free Quran distribution requests for eligible users in the USA.

  • To improve the App’s performance and user experience.

  • To send notifications or reminders to help you stay on track with your spiritual goals (with your consent).

  • To process in-app purchases and subscriptions.

  • To moderate user-generated content, such as mosque timings, to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.

  • To verify eligibility and fulfill requests for free Quran distribution, including coordinating with shipping partners.

  • To comply with legal obligations or protect our rights.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data based on:

  • Consent: You have given your explicit consent for us to process your data for specific purposes, such as accessing location data for mosque and Qibla features, sending notifications, processing user-generated content, or collecting data for free Quran distribution.

  • Performance of a Contract: Processing is necessary to deliver the App’s services (e.g., providing nearby mosque information, processing subscriptions, displaying user-verified content, or fulfilling Quran distribution requests) or respond to your requests before entering a contract.

  • Legitimate Interests: We may process data to improve our services or ensure the App’s functionality, provided these interests do not override your rights and freedoms.

  • Legal Obligations: Processing may be necessary to comply with applicable U.S. or international laws.

Data Storage and Retention

Your personal data, including location data, user-generated content, and free Quran distribution data, is stored on secure servers in the United States and, in part, on your device’s local storage. We use standard encryption (e.g., HTTPS) to protect your data during transmission, and we comply with applicable export regulations for encryption technologies. We retain your data only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy or as required by law (e.g., tax or commercial retention periods). Location data is only retained temporarily to provide real-time features like mosque identification or Qibla direction and is not stored long-term unless required for ongoing functionality with your consent. User-generated content, such as mosque timings, may be retained to display to other users unless removed or reported as inaccurate. Free Quran distribution data is retained only until the request is fulfilled, unless required for legal purposes. You can delete your account and associated data at any time through the App’s settings or by contacting support@deenhub.app with a deletion request. Once deleted, your data will be permanently removed unless we are legally required to retain it.

Data Sharing

We may share your data with:

  • Service Providers: Third-party providers who assist with App functionality, such as hosting, analytics, customer support, location-based services (e.g., mapping for nearby mosques), or shipping partners for free Quran distribution. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

  • Other Users: User-generated content, such as mosque adhan and iqamah times, may be shared with other users to enhance the App’s functionality. We moderate this content to ensure accuracy and appropriateness but cannot guarantee its reliability.

  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information, including location data, user-generated content, or free Quran distribution data, to third parties. For California residents, we confirm that we do not sell your personal information as defined under the CCPA.

Third-Party Services

We may use trusted third parties like:

  • Firebase (by Google) for analytics and crash reporting.

Each has its own privacy policy, which you should review:

  • Google Privacy Policy

  • Apple Privacy Policy

  • OpenAI Privacy Policy

We do not share your data with these third parties beyond what’s necessary to make the App work. The AI chatbot uses the OpenAI API, and we are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of its responses. We filter chatbot outputs to prevent inappropriate content, but you should consult qualified Islamic scholars for religious guidance.
